Goodbye to "Er Monnezza" and "Nico Giraldi": Tomas Milian died at 84
Film industry is mourning: two days ago, March 22, the famous actor Tomas Milian passed away.
Milian (born Tomás Quintín Rodríguez) was born on 3 March 1933 and he was a Cuban American-Italian actor and singer, known for the emotional intensity and humor he brought to roles in Italian genre films. Althought he had worked in drammatic films with great authors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Alberto Lattuada, Luchino Visconti and Citto Maselli, he was mostly known for his participation in western and detective films, between the years '70 and '80. His fame was linked especially to two characters played in several film: Nico Giraldi, a marshal (from the 1981 inspector) of police, roman from a little ways up the gentle, but effective, who knows the environments criminals having been a part of youth with a nickname of "Nico il Pirata". And Sergio Marazzi, alias,"Er Monnezza", a small-time thief roman.
Since returning to the United States in 1985, Milian continued to perform supporting roles in film productions, including 'JFK' (1991), 'Amistad' (1997), 'Traffic' (2000) and 'The Lost City' (2005).
