'The sweet hand of the White Rose' has been selected by the italian web "Indie Horror" to opt for the award as "2010 Best Independent Film" (push here to read the article and vote your favourite film). Mario Monicelli, one of the most famous Italian director died yesterday at the age of 95. Monicelli was born in Viareggio (Tuscany) on May 16, 1915 and in his career he worked with the most important italian actors of the 20th century: Totò, Vittorio Gassman, Alberto Sordi, Marcello Mastroianni, Ugo Tognazzi, Monica Vitti, Anna Magnani, Giancarlo Giannini, Stefania Sandrelli, Vittorio De Sica, Sophia Loren, Enrico Montesano, Gian Maria Volonté, Paolo Villaggio, Nino Manfredi and Leonardo Pieraccioni.

Leslie Nielsen died yesterday in his sleep of complications from pneumonia. The famous actor was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on February 11, 1926. In his career he appeared in over 100 films and 1,500 television programs over the span of his career, portraying over 220 characters.

Tomorrow ‘The Puzzle’ will be broadcast on "PTV Málaga" around 6:30 pm. After the short, there will be an interview with Cachito Noguera and me. Diego Banderas directs the program. I'm really happy, because after Italy and US, 'The Puzzle' will arrive to Spanish Television too!

For the first time, ‘The Puzzle’ will be broadcast in a Spanish television too. The next November 8 I’ll be the guest of “Málaga en Antena”, a program realized by Diego Banderas on “PTV Málaga”. After the short film there will be a interview with Cachito Noguera, the protagonist of the film and me.

I will start soon to plan my new film to shoot on 2011... I cannot reveal nothing yet, becuse it's too early... The only thing I can say it's that will be a pure "giallo" film... I’m exiting to announce that, after Spain and America, ‘The sweet hand of the White Rose’ arrives to South Africa too! The short has been selected for the “South African Horror Festival” final (push here to read it), the most important event dedicated to all things Horror on the continent. The festival is set for Halloween 2010 (27 October - 5 November) in Cape Town. All details soon on the blog. Congratulations to all the cast and crew!

'The sweet hand of the White Rose' - Honorable Mention

I'm really proud to report that 'The sweet hand of the White Rose' received the Honorable Mention at the american festival "Tabloid Witch Awards" (push here to read the winners). The movie will be screened on October 30 (6 p.m. till 11:30 a.m.), at the Miles Memorial Playhouse, in Santa Monica, CA. This is the comment about our short film:
"This guy does everything wrong. He drinks in a bar, argues with his lady friend -- now he's upset as well as drunk! -- then gets behind the wheel of a car. While driving along a curving country road, he talks and texts on his cell phone -- then plows into a girl on a bicycle. Her ghost returns to haunt him. That sounds like the beginnings of a traditional supernatural horror tale. Do you suppose the girl haunts the man until he confesses? Or until he dies a grisly death to pay for his sins? Or that it's all in his mind? The Sweet Hand of the White Rose is beyond all that. Its dramatic twists and turns culminate in an unexpected and poignant resolution. Apart from some beautiful photography, The Sweet Hand of the White Rose demonstrates horror's ability to effectively influence and inform (in this case, about the dangers of distracted driving), earning an Honorable Mention for writer/director Davide Melini."

Goodbye Sandra!!!

Sandra Mondaini the most famous Italian actress and TV host died at a local hospital in Milan, just five months after the death of her beloved husband Raimonodo Vianello, with whom she formed a pair of historic Italian television. Sandra Mondaini husband Raimonodo Vianello, with whom she shared all her life on and off screen died back in April. The 79-year-old Sandra Mondaini was also famous among children for the portrayal of the clown “Sbirulino” (in the picture). She and her husband starred in number of TV programs and sitcoms successfully, during their life time.
We'll miss you Sandra!!! Goodbye!!!

"Killer Film Festival" changed the theater and date

"Killer Film Festival" has just announced its 2010 Official Selection (push here). The Theater and date has also changed to November 12th - 14th and will now be back at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro, MA (US). Interview for a spanish TV program

Yesterday night I was the guest of “Charlas en el Jardín”, a spanish TV program, in which I spoke about my movies and all my professional life. The interview, around 10 minutes, will be broadcast in some Televisions of Málaga. The next monday, Carlos Bahos, protagonist of 'The sweet hand of the White Rose', will be interviewed as well. Soon I'll put all the interviews up in the blog!

Final nº 5!!!

I'm happy to report that 'The sweet hand of the White Rose' has been selected for the final of the "Festival de Cortos de la Axarquia" (push here to read it). In the four semifinal days there were 28 short films and now just 7: I'm really glad to be one of these seven! The final there will be on July, 2 around 9 pm, into Teatro del Carmen de Veléz-Málaga.

From Spain to US... 3rd final nomination!!!

I'm proud to say that 'The sweet hand of the White Rose' has been selected for the final of the famous “Balticon 44 Sunday Night Short Film Festival” (push here to read it). I'm really happy about this nomination, bacause I've the opportunity to show my new film to US! The short, rated as PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13), will be screened on may 29, at 11:10 pm. Good luck!!!

Goodbye Raimondo!

Raimondo Vianello (Rome - May 7, 1922) a piece of history in the Italian television and entertainment, has died today. He was 88 years old! Between 1947 and 1968 he worked on 79 films (up he's with the greatest actor Totó).

Between 1988 to 2007, with his wife Sandra Mondaini (in the picture) they formed a popular couple in several Italian comedies, and in a famous TV show, as 'Casa Vianello', broadcast by "Mediaset Channels 5" and "Rete 4" and in which they represented their characters in the everyday life.
All italian people will miss his smile and his capacity of laughing and making jokes out of small as well as big things.

The premiere of 'The sweet hand of the White Rose' will be on April, 8 in the ESAEM school (Escuola Superior de Artes Escénicas de Málaga).

The appointment is at 8:45 and the movie will be screened around 9:00. I chose to show the short film to all the people that worked on it, before the "Málaga Spanish Film Festival" final.
